Our History
When we opened our doors we made a commitment to Qatar’s 300,000+ school age children. We committed to providing open access to high quality age appropriate reading materials in Arabic and English, to inspiring children to fall in love with reading through immersive, fun and engaging programming, to creating a space that reflects our community and inspires all of us to make reading a priority. We extend our programming to schools and nurseries both on site and in schools. Each program is thoughtfully designed to reinforce key themes related to their class work.

To continue to expand our collection of books and enhance our activity programmes Maktaba Children’s Library is launching its 10 for 10 campaign partnering with corporate organizations who have a special commitment to fostering a love of reading and hands-on learning in Qatar. For the cost of $10,000 per year you will become a branch on our learning tree. In return we will offer your organization 10 family memberships for the library, a 10% discount on membership for your staff and opportunities to promote your organization’s CSR commitment to Maktaba.
